Extra-curricular

Sports

At HazelGrove, we offer external sports programs in partnership with Matt from Futureroo Sports.

Children take part in a variety of fun, non-competitive fitness classes designed to build foundational skills in sportsmanship, teamwork, and understanding of game rules. Futureroo programs are thoughtfully developed with input from allied health professionals, ensuring they support the developmental needs of every child.

These sessions encourage physical confidence, cooperation, and a lifelong love of movement — all while having fun with friends!

Soccer / Rugby League

Children learn basic footwork, passing, and dribbling skills through energetic games.

They develop coordination, communication, and spatial awareness on the field.

The focus is on having fun while building teamwork and fair play.

Boxing

Boxing classes focus on strength, rhythm, and controlled movements.

Children build self-regulation and confidence in a safe, non-contact environment.

It’s a great way to release energy and improve focus through fun routines.

Basketball

Through playful drills, children learn to bounce, pass, and shoot.

They practice teamwork and strategic thinking in mini group games.

Basketball builds hand-eye coordination and a sense of collaboration.

Dance

In partnership with Nicole from ABC Dance With Me, our dance program is all about fun, movement, and foundational development for children in the early yeras.

Each session combines gentle stretches, creative exercises, and playful routines that support key coordination milestones like skipping, galloping, and balancing. Our classes emphasise rhythm and movement, helping children build muscle strength, spatial awareness, and cognitive skills such as memory and pattern recognition—important foundations for early learning in both music and maths.

We believe stretching is more than just a warm-up—it’s a fun and effective way to improve flexibility, balance, and coordination. Activities like “Follow the Leader” are always a hit, encouraging children to build motor control, listen attentively, and engage with their peers in a joyful, team-oriented way.

Beyond physical benefits, our dance classes nurture social skills and boost self-confidence as children express themselves creatively and connect with others. These experiences lay the groundwork for a lifetime of learning, movement, and self-expression. Life’s too short not to dance!

Music

At HazelGrove, we offer a Music Program with Mr David who is a Music teacher an  Early childhood Practitioner as well. David teaches the Music Curriculum in local colleges.

Music At HazelGrove, music is embraced as one of the “100 languages of children” within our Reggio-inspired approach. It offers children a meaningful way to express emotions, explore ideas, and connect with others through sound, rhythm, movement, and song. Music supports every area of development — from emotional wellbeing and social skills to cognitive growth and language learning. Children engage in joyful, open-ended experiences with instruments, singing, and movement, with music woven naturally into daily routines and project work.

Our music program also honours culture and identity. We incorporate First Nations songs and traditional instruments to foster respect for Indigenous perspectives and deepen children’s connection to Country. Families are encouraged to share music from their own backgrounds, helping children see music as a powerful link between home and early learning. Whether clapping a beat, experimenting with natural sound materials, or singing in multiple languages, children at HazelGrove explore music as a vibrant, inclusive, and creative part of their world.
